is committed to bringing arts & education to the community
through the techniques of improvisational theatre. In our partnership with
Livermore Academy of Performing Arts, we strive to reinforce our belief that
improvisation is an important, legitimate, demanding, & sophisticated art
form. Through training in all aspects of theatrical performance, actors will
participate in & create works of the highest quality & standards. Using
improvisation as our foundation we offer a variety of courses for a range of
theatrical interests & study with enthusiastic, experienced, &
knowledgeable instructors to guide the learning process.
Improvisation is a specialized form of theatrical performance that requires
spontaneity, respect, trust, & teamwork. It can aid in public speaking,
communication, team building, & various other foundations of the 'real
world' experience. Often viewed as silly & unsophisticated, improvisation is
typically something that actors only dabble in at the beginning stages of their
education. However, improvisation is not only a valuable tool for the performer,
but an artistic skill to be utilized in enhancing any performance & creative
discovery at all levels. To be a good improviser one must be a skilled actor,
& to be a good actor one must be a skilled improviser. | |
